Back pain is one of the most common health problems affecting people of all ages. Whether it is due to long sitting hours, poor posture, heavy lifting, or age-related degeneration, back pain can interfere with work, sleep, and daily activities.
At Dr Niteesh Kumar’s Physiotherapy Chiropractic and Acupuncture Clinic, we focus on identifying the root cause of back pain and providing advanced, non-surgical treatment for long-term relief.
Disc bulge (slipped disc) happens when the soft cushion between the bones of the spine pushes out from its normal position.
This can put pressure on nearby nerves and cause back pain. Sometimes the pain can travel to the leg (sciatica) or cause numbness and tingling.
It commonly happens due to wrong posture, heavy lifting, injury, or age-related wear and tear.
Sciatica is pain that travels from the lower back down to the buttock and leg.
It happens when the sciatic nerve is irritated or compressed, usually due to a disc bulge or slipped disc.
Symptoms may include sharp shooting pain, burning sensation, numbness, or tingling in the leg.
Sitting for long periods or bending forward may worsen the pain.
Poor posture and prolonged sitting put extra pressure on the spine and surrounding muscles.
Sitting for long hours with a slouched back or forward head position strains the neck and lower back.
Over time, this can lead to stiffness, muscle weakness, and chronic back pain.
Lack of movement also reduces blood flow, making the spine less flexible.
Lumbar spondylosis is age-related wear and tear of the lower back (lumbar spine).
Over time, the discs and joints in the lower back lose flexibility and strength.
This can cause back pain, stiffness, and sometimes leg pain if nerves are irritated.
It is common after the age of 40 and may worsen with poor posture and long sitting hours.
Muscle strain happens when back muscles are overstretched or injured due to sudden movement, heavy lifting, or poor posture.
Muscle spasm is a sudden tightening of these muscles, causing sharp pain and stiffness.
It may make it difficult to bend, stand straight, or move comfortably.
Pain is usually localized and may worsen with activity.
Weak core muscles mean the muscles of the abdomen and lower back are not strong enough to properly support the spine.
When these muscles are weak, extra stress is placed on the back structures.
This can lead to back pain, poor posture, and repeated injuries.
Prolonged sitting and lack of exercise commonly cause core weakness..

Yes, many slipped disc cases improve with conservative treatment, including physiotherapy, spinal decompression techniques, posture correction, and strengthening exercises.
Mild back pain may improve within 2–4 weeks. Chronic or disc-related pain may require 4–8 weeks of structured rehabilitation depending on severity.
The best treatment depends on the root cause. A combination of manual therapy, spinal mobilization, laser therapy, core strengthening, and ergonomic correction is often highly effective.
