Heel pain is a very common problem that can affect your ability to walk, stand, or perform daily activities comfortably. It is especially common in people who stand for long hours, are overweight, or have improper footwear.
At Dr Niteesh Kumar’s Physiotherapy Chiropractic and Acupuncture Clinic, we focus on identifying the root cause of heel pain and providing effective, non-surgical treatment for long-term relief.

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain, caused by inflammation of the thick band of tissue under the foot.
It usually causes sharp pain in the heel, especially with the first steps in the morning.
Pain may reduce with movement but can return after long standing or walking.
It is commonly seen in people with prolonged standing, improper footwear, or tight calf muscles.

Heel spur is a bony growth that forms on the underside of the heel bone due to long-term stress and strain.
It is often associated with plantar fasciitis and may or may not cause pain.
When painful, it can lead to sharp discomfort while standing or walking.
Prolonged pressure, tight muscles, and improper footwear are common causes.

Flat feet and high arches are conditions where the natural arch of the foot is either too low or too high.
In flat feet, the arch collapses, increasing stress on the heel and inner foot.
In high arches, weight is unevenly distributed, putting extra pressure on the heel.
Both conditions can lead to heel pain, fatigue, and imbalance while walking.

Tight calf muscles occur when the muscles at the back of the lower leg become shortened or stiff.
This increases tension on the heel and plantar fascia during walking.
It can lead to heel pain, especially in conditions like plantar fasciitis.

Obesity means excess body weight that puts extra stress on the joints and feet.
Increased weight adds pressure on the heels during standing and walking.
This can lead to conditions like plantar fasciitis and chronic heel pain.
It may also slow down healing and recovery.

Improper footwear means wearing shoes that do not provide proper support or cushioning to the feet.
Flat, hard, or worn-out shoes can increase stress on the heel and foot structures.
High heels or unsupportive slippers can also disturb normal foot alignment.
This can lead to heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and foot fatigue.
